2009 Cabernet

Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were sourced from great Cabernet vineyards in premium South Australian wine regions, including McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, where brilliant sun and ancient soils do their best.

McLaren Vale, one of Australia’s outstanding grape growing areas with a history dating back to plantings in 1850, combines warm sunny days with fresh sea breezes from Gulf St Vincent and chilling gully winds from the Mount Lofty Ranges to temper extremes of summer heat and retain crisp acidity and structure. Good winter rains and low humidity ensure consistency of ripening and premium quality over an undulating topography on a variety of soils.

Langhorne Creek, on fine, deep and fertile soils, is one of Australia’s oldest and most significant wine regions. Adjacent to Lake Alexandrina, Australia’s largest permanent freshwater lake, the region’s climate is characterized by low winter-dominant rainfall, and due to cooling breezes from the lake, enjoys moderate daytime temperatures during the growing season. Fragrant Cabernet Sauvignon with minty overtones is a Langhorne Creek specialty.

Winemaker, Ben Riggs and his team have produced a full and flavoursome wine, deep-hued with lifted aromatics and a structured but supple palate. Smooth, rich and generously loaded with mulberries, black cherries and spice on the palate, the finish is long lasting, delicious, dense and fruit-packed. With tannins enhancing the tastes and richness of food, this is a perfect red meat or pasta accompaniment.

Woop Woop Shiraz, a first-class Australian that’s “out there from out there!”
