2009 ShirazCarefully selected parcels of grapes were sourced from a selection of renowned Shiraz vineyards in premium Australian wine regions, including Riverland, Padthaway, McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek in South Australia, where brilliant sun and ancient soils do their best. The Riverland accounts for around half of South Australia’s total crush and around one quarter of Australia’s production. The region’s wonderful climate, its commitment to viticultural quality through ‘world’s best practices’ in irrigation, clone selection, and vineyard management techniques produce excellent fruit. The gently folding lands of Padthaway are adjacent to the renowned Coonawarra. With climatic similarities and a good slice of ‘terra rossa’ soils, Padthaway produces wines of consistent style and quality. At the pinnacle of Australian Shiraz regions, with a history dating back to plantings in 1850, McLaren Vale’s Mediterranean climate provides good winter rains and low humidity to ensure consistency of ripening and premium quality. Langhorne Creek, on fine, deep and fertile soils, is one of Australia’s oldest and most significant wine regions. A well-regarded red growing area, Langhorne Creek characteristically produces Shiraz that is spicy, elegant and full of flavour. Winemaker, Ben Riggs and his team enthused as the fruits of their labour evolved into a full-bodied and flavoursome wine, deep-hued with richly scented aromatics and a long, soft and juicy palate. Of lush mouthfeel, bursting with blackberry, blueberry jam and liquorice, this wine guarantees a true Australian Shiraz experience for consumption over the next 5 years. Woop Woop Shiraz, a crackerjack Australian that’s “out there from out there!” |
