2009 Verdelho
The parcels of grapes selected for this tempting wine were sourced from vineyards
renowned for Verdelho in premium South Eastern Australian wine regions, mainly the
Limestone Coast and Langhorne Creek, where brilliant sun and ancient soils do their best.
Formed some 750,000 years ago, the Limestone Coast region in the south-east of South
Australia consists of an underlying limestone base which, when coupled with the
relatively cool climate, contributes to unique grape growing conditions.
On fine, deep and fertile soils, Langhorne Creek is one of Australia’s oldest and most
significant wine regions. Adjacent to Lake Alexandrina, Australia’s largest permanent
freshwater lake, the region’s climate is characterized by low winter-dominant rainfall, and
due to cooling breezes from the lake, enjoys moderate daytime temperatures during the
growing season.
From fresh, fragrant fruit, wonderful tropical notes combine with bright citrus and mineral
characters to create a deliciously flavoursome and refreshing Woop Woop Verdelho from
Vintage 2009.
Consistent with previous vintages, winemaker Ben Riggs has created a bright, aromatic
wine, fruit-driven with crisp natural acidity, and well balanced palate. It will compliment a
wide variety of foods, matching particularly well with seafood, salads or spicy Asian cuisine.
Woop Woop Verdelho, a bright and breezy Australian that’s “out there from out there!”
